Book Review: How to be God's Little Princess by Sheila Walsh

How to Be God's Little Princess: Royal Tips on Manners and Etiquette for GirlsWhile my daughter does have a children's bible and a few other books that talk about God and Jesus we are not what you would call a religious family by any stretch of the imagination. I chose this book not because of the title "How to be God's Little Princess" but because my daughter was still a little bit into princesses and this book offers "Royal Tips for Manners, Etiquette and True Beauty" all things that I am trying to teach her about.

Parts of this book are a little old for my five year old, make-up, planning parties, safety when out with friends, internet etiquette and safety they are probably more suited to an eight or nine year old. There were lots of sections that were very helpful such as treating others with respect, proper table manners, being polite. Since it was written as if explaining the proper way to act like a princess and not just a list of dos and don'ts my daughter was quite receptive to the ideas talked about in the book. It opens the doors to many discussions on appropriate behavior and acting with respect towards other people, something that is sadly lacking in this world.

There are fun little quizzes scattered throughout the book e.g: Are You Bold or Bashful? and What's Your Friendship Style? There are also various other puzzles and quizzes.

I would have no problem recommending this book to anyone who is looking for a fun way to teach a young girl about respect, manners and safety.
