Linkology Animals Card Game by Learning Resources

If you're looking for an educational animal game that is fun for adults and children alike then this is that game. The Linkology Animals Card Game from Learning Resources is aimed at children 5 and up. Reading is required so an adult will have to play along if your children don't read yet. Luckily it's interesting enough that parents shouldn't mind. My husband does not enjoy playing kids' games but this is one that he is always happy to play, sometimes for over an hour.

The game includes 100 animal and descriptive cards. The object is to alternate playing picture and descriptive cards that correspond, for instance, if the last card played was a pelican then the next card would have to be a descriptive card such as "wings" followed by a picture card depicting another animal with wings and so on. Some of the descriptive cards used include; carnivore, claws, cold-blooded, lays eggs, mammal, vertebrate, scales etc. As you can see not all descriptive cards are obvious so there is a lot of learning, in a fun way, involved for children. And the game comes with a handy little answer chart in case even the adults get stuck. There are also extra cards that allow you to start a new pile or make another player pick up an extra card. If you cannot play a card from your hand you must pick a card from the draw pile. The winner is the person who plays all their cards first.
